Hi, I’m Tayla. I’m 27 years old from Adelaide, South Australia, and I’ve been diagnosed with Stage 1, Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Turns out, cancer is a bit of a bitch, and not exactly something I can suppress with hot ginger tea and garlic. So this is me, doing all that I can do and putting pen to paper (or key to keyboard) while I endure the physical and emotional turmoil of a cancer diagnosis, and all that follows. I aim to expose the details that aren’t shared in casual conversation, and answer any unasked questions, while providing a space for awareness and support for my fellow cancer battlers.
When I was diagnosed, I was desperate to connect with other people whose worlds had also been tipped upside down in one word. I found solace in reading their stories, and felt inspired to uncover the strength and resilience that lies dormant within each of us, in order to tackle it head on. I hope by sharing my story, others feel they can do the same.
In Australia, cancer will effect 1 in 2 of us, breast cancer 1 in 8 of us, so I think it’s about time we had a chat!
